About

I played professional cricket and was a member of the Eastern Province Winter Training squad in 1998 under the South African Men's International Cricket team coaches Russell Domingo and Adrian Birrell.

I completed my Level 2 coaching course under Russell Domingo just before moving to England in May 2004 to continue my cricket career and became a proud member of the Free Foresters Cricket Club where I scored a total of 200 runs in the match to be offered club membership.

Throughout my teenage years I was very fortunate to be coached weekly by Grant Morgan who is regarded as the best South African Cricket Coach. He was an enterprising wicketkeeper-batsman who taught me a vast amount of skills over the years.

Grant Morgan:

Grant appeared to be primed for big things as a player. Instead, he made his name as a coach. Armed with a Level 4 diploma, Morgan coached was an assistant to Ray Jennings with the South Africa Under-19 side that reached the final of the age-group World Cup.

Gauteng, but it was only when he moved to Pietermaritzburg to take over the KwaZulu-Natal Inland side that major success came. Under Morgan, the team won both limited-overs trophies in the 2013-14 season and then the three-day and 20-over cups in the 2015-16 summer. He was named head of coach of the Dolphins franchise ahead of the 2016-17 season.

Russell Domingo:

In June 2011, Domingo was appointed assistant coach of the senior national team, under the newly appointed senior coach Gary Kirsten In December 2012, he took over from Kirsten as South Africa's Twenty20 International coach, with his first series being against New Zealand At the time of his appointment, he and New Zealand coach Mike Hessen were the only national coaches not to have played professionally.

In May 2013, Kirsten announced that he would resign as national coach at the end of July, with Domingo subsequently being announced as his replacement. He has since led South Africa to the semi-finals of the 2014 World Twenty20 and 2015 World Cup, and received a two-year contract extension in September 2014 which lasted until 2016.  He was also appointed head coach of the Pretoria Mavericks for the T20 GLOBAL LEAGUE in South Africa.

Domingo was named Bangladesh head coach on 17 August 2019 until 2022.

Under his coaching, Bangladesh registered their first ever T20I win over India in 2019. In May 2021, Bangladesh recorded their first ever bilateral series win against Sri Lanka. In August 2021, Bangladesh won a T20I series 4–1 against Australia, which was their first ever series win in any format against Australia.[12] The following month, Bangladesh also defeated New Zealand 3–2, securing their first ever T20I series win against New Zealand.

In January 2022, Bangladesh won the first Test against New Zealand by eight wickets. It was Bangladesh's first win in Test cricket against New Zealand, and their first win in international cricket against New Zealand in New Zealand. In March 2022, Bangladesh beat South Africa 2–1 in an ODI series in South Africa, which was their first ever series win in South Africa.

Adrian Birrell:

He led Ireland in the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup where they reached the Super Eight Stage. In the tournament they beat two Test nations, Bangladesh and Pakistan as well as achieving a tie against Zimbabwe. He stepped down after the World Cup and was replaced as Ireland coach by Phil Simmons, but he continued to coach in Ireland. In 2013 he was appointed assistant national coach for South Africa. On 14 December 2018, Birrell was appointed first team manager at Hampshire County Cricket Club.
